Hersbruck Wassertor 1601
Early rise today. Mucki and Wolfgang picked us up at 7:45am and drove us to the next town so we could buy a regional train ticket for 19 Euros instead of 48 Euros. We caught a train from Schnelldorf to Nürnberg and then switched to go to Henfenfeld.

We ate lunch in Hersbruck at Cafe Francesco an Italian restaurant. Did part of the town walking tour then back to Claudia and Wolfgang's for coffee and Hefezopf. Hersbruck was part of a trade route in the 8th century. The Bavarian Duke built a bridge over the River Pegnitz thus a fortified settlement was established. It became part of Eastern Franconia in 976. The towns fortifications were not completed until 1444. During the War of the Bavarian Succession between Landshut and Munich, Hersbruck became part of Nürnberg (1504). In 1525 came the Reformation and Hersbruck became Protestant (Lutheran). When the Kingdom of Bavaria was created in 1806 by Napoleon, the region around Nürnberg once again became Bavarian.

Back to Henfenfeld for a 4km walk in Henfenfeld Forest.

A short rest and then time to eat and drink beer of course!!
