Bremen

Germany, 05. August 2017
Bremen Markt Platz. Saturday markets. Buildings: Sparkasse facade from 1755, Rathsapotheke from 1595, State Parliament.
A cool day today in Bremen, 20 degrees Celsius. A smattering of rain in the afternoon.
A great German breakfast of rye bread, rolls, strawberry jam (made by Horst), honey, muesli with yoghurt and strong aromatic German coffee.

Firstly we walked to the local supermarket, Rewe, to stock up on beer, bread, cheese and other food items. Yum!

Then off into Bremen city to buy German SIM cards for our phones. Telekom was the most cost effective prepaid card allowing use in all EU countries without monthly recharging. At least 15 Euro credit needs to be kept on the card at all times. It cost 10 Euro for the SIM + 15 Euro credit for calls, SMS and 1.5Gb data.

A fabulous Italian lunch at La Bottega, Horst's favourite restaurant. We sat at our favourite table under Ron's favourite print - 'American Girl in Italy' with actress Ofey. We ate Pfifferlinge mushrooms with homemade Tagliatelle pasta.

Back to Horst's apartment for a rest then Vesper for dinner.
