( Overview
/ Around Oz with Steve and Ros
Broome .. where the red sand meets the sea.. they are not wrong !!! I had imagined Broome to look like Coober Pedy with trees.. Steve thought more Evans Head! We were sort of in the middle! Red dirt everywhere! Staying at seventh day Adventist park .. this was one of cheapest and all we could get in to as it's so busy this time of year..it's actually not that bad ! No preachy preachy and the volunteers that run are so nice.
And it's close to everything.
Off to the famed cable beach .. at southern end at Gantheaume Point. Cars just drive and park on beach .. even sunbake beside their cars! It's true what they say .. water is the bluest of blues and sand is so white .. can't get over how one minute you are in red sand and then white ! Amazing 👍
Next day .. straight to beach again and Steve had his first surf in 2 months! Weather is fantastic with highs of 30 and clear skies! Sunset at the aptly named sunset bar🌅 On the Monday, we drove up to Willie Creek and the pearl farm to learn all about it. Again driving through kms of red dirt until you get to amazing little beaches with blue water and white sand. We moved to Roebuck Bay Park after 4 nights as the churchy one was so cramped it finally got to us ! As they don't take bookings, we had to be at office at 730 to get a spot as it's so busy! We luckily got one and spending next 5 nights here. Right on the Roebuck Bay, it's a top spot with massive tides that make it look stunning or mudflatty! Days spent bike riding, markets, Steve's charter fishing tour where he nearly caught a big one. Nights spent playing harmonica with neighbours (great night!!), watching sunsets on cable beach and Roebuck Bay and a quiet night in town! After coming back from the falls, we moved to Palm Grove Park for 3 nights (every park is so freakin busy we have to take what we can get !!) This park is right on cable beach .. so walk to beach n pubs.. nice to be on other side of town. Sunday arvy drinks n sunsets .. such a hard life !!
