Darwin

Australia, 06. July 2017
Woohoo finally made it to the top end!! Arrived Darwin before lunch. We were lucky to find a site cos everywhere was sooo busy! We found a great one with 3 pools and live music every night .. what more can you ask for !! Took a drive into town to Mindil markets .. crazy busy food and craft markets. The markets are on Mindil Beach (stevie nearly shed a tear when he saw the water as its been a long time!!) After a tasting of the markets culinary delights, we walked onto the beach to watch the sunset 🌅 (with hundreds of others!) byoodiful spot.
Faffed the next day, went to pool.. was cloudy today so not as stinking hot. Had dinner at the park and chatted with fellow travelers. Next day, took a drive into town to Stokes Hill wharf where there is a great museum reliving the drama of the Bombing of Darwin Harbour in 1942. Had hologram stories and a virtual reality experience that puts you right there on the ship, in the air.. was fantastic! Lunched in Mitchell st (backpacker haven!) and then went to wave pool and lagoon. On the Sunday, we spent the morning at Aussie super bike championships at Hidden Valley.. Steve was in his brrmm brrmm element ! Then off to Mindil beach for the beer can regatta.. where boats are raced purely made of beer cans! That's the major race with thong throwing anothery! So NT ! Next few days were spent swimming cos it's so bloody hot, saying over and over how flipping hot it is, lunch at Sailing club and a bike ride around Nightcliff !
I couldn't get over how many people watch the sunset !
Overlooking Harbour
This was the virtual reality of the darwin bombing .. so real .. I had to hold on to wall to balance !
Bloody luv it !
