/ Our Serengeti Safari
Sadly this is our last day of Safari, as we are flying back to England tomorrow afternoon. We have a more leisurely start this morning thank goodness and then set off for Tarangire National Park. On the way, we have some shopping opportunities. First at a local tourist shop but the quality of the goods is not great. Then we stop at the African Galleria, which is a massive and fantastic place selling souvenirs quite cheaply but also selling art and carvings costing many hundreds of pounds. Then we make a short detour to Manyara Wildlife Safari Camp to collect the missing shoes !
We arrive at Tarangire National Park at around 13:30 and eat our picnic lunch before heading off for our final game drive. Back at a lower level, the temperatures are much higher so we do not see the wide range of animals which normally inhabit this area. The animals are too hot and so were we !
However, the Tarangire Park is an absolutely beautiful place and we do see a family of warthogs, elephants, some giraffes and impalas. We also see the huge Baobob trees, including one where the lower part of the trunk is hollow and even a tall person could stand up inside.
We arrive at Lake Burunge Tented camp late in the afternoon, which is a shame because the accomodation is fantastic and the setting magical. This is truly glamping ! We have a very good dinner and spend our final evening sitting chatting accompanied by the odd glass of wine.
