( Overview
/ Europe 2017
7th September
After the Prado Museum we headed toward the La Latina section of the city to Cava Eaja street for authentic Spanish dinner. We ate at restaurante Cava Baja 17. We had Meat & Seafood Paella and Cervezas (beer). It was excellent.
8th September
Last day in Madrid. We left our packs at the apartment reception.
Breakfast at Pannus Panaderia Cafeteria, Madrid in the Cortes district. Ron had coffee and 3 pastries. I had cappuccino and 1 pastry (snecker, my favourite) and it cost 5,40 Euros. So cheap and so good.
In Madrid if a cafe or bar (not restaurant) are good the locals screw up their paper napkin and drop it in the floor. This place is good! It even has the Spanish savoury pasties!
Next to try the famous Madrid fried calamari roll at La Ideal Bar by Plaza Mayor.
Time to leave. We walked 15 min to the train station, caught the 30 min train to the Airport T4 for 2,50 Euro each, then the 15 min free shuttle bus to T2 to catch the Brussels Airline to Brussels then Bremen. Smooth as!! A taxi would have cost 40 Euros.
Brussel Airlines. Madrid to Brussels to Bremen. Horst picked us up from the airport at 10pm. Back to his apartment for Vesper. Weißwurst, rolls, bread, cheese and of course beer.
I did two loads of washing and hung them in the community drying room. Time for wine and a catch up on events.
