Day 3 of our Camino trek.
A short trek today. 22 km from Santo Domingo to Belorado. A beautiful day. 22 Celsius with a cool breeze and a quaint village every 6 kms. We met lots of Pellegrinos on the Camino today, from Spain, France, Australia, Canada, Austria, USA, Germany and Mexico.
Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Granon to Redecilla del Camino to Castildelgado to Viloria de Rioja to Belorado.
There are 17 regions and 50 provinces in Spain. Today we crossed from La Rioja to Leon Region.
Each village has water fountains, rest areas, cafes and general stores for the Pellegrinos and of course a church.
In Belorado we settled into our Hotel A Santiago on the outskirts of the city centre. This accommodation had both hotel and albergue facilities. Only the hotel can be pre-booked.
Showered and walked 650 metres into the town centre. The centre square is always called Mayor Plaza.
We found other Peregrinos at the outdoors Cafe Bar Bulevar so we joined three tables together.
There was a festival starting at 6pm from the square. Today is the third day of the three day festival for the pilgrim that walked for three days with his decapitated head under his arm. I followed the horse, Spanish ladies, dancing men and band to the outskirts of the city to the fairgrounds. Very festive. Back to the bar for Tapas and more beer.
At 7:30pm Ron and I went back to our Hotel/Albergue for the 3 course Peregrine dinner with wine for 10 Euros.
