Walked the historic tour of Kilkenny, the Medieval Mile.

We walked through the Kilkenny Castle grounds. Next the Alms House now a tourist centre then the Town Hall, then Rothe House, the Black Abbey, St Canice's Cathedral. Kyteler Inn was founded by Alice Kyteler who was charged as a witch. Next to John's bridge. At the Kilkenny Castle we watched a movie about the history of the Butler family who owned the castle. We walked in the Butler family residence garden and the castle stables. The stables now house a design centre for local artists.

We climbed the 124 ladder steps of the 8th century Round Tower for a clear view of Kilkenny.

The Black Abbey is an amazing structure and we were treated to singing from two monks.

Kilkenny was once the medieval capital of Ireland. Saint Candice founded a monastic settlement here in 6th century. The round tower was built in the 9th century. Saint Candice Cathedral built in the 13th century is the second largest Cathedral in Ireland.
