Next stop .. we were invited to an aboriginal community by some friends we met at the falls.. one night turned into 4 ! The town is called Bidyadanga and is a town of about 1000 .. all didgees! Mark and Geraldine run the local store and we stayed in their backyard which was fully gated and beside the cop shop .. so safe as ! The community has issues with domestic violence, drugs, alcohol (even tho none is allowed !) and a lot of gambling (last weeks big winner walked away with 26k!!) the didgees leave you alone tho.. so we felt safe.. interesting to see how they live! They all drive in cars with no windscreens and multitudes of families all live together in normal looking houses with rubbish for gardens! That's just how they live! They have an AFL team, movie nights for kids at police station, one store that sells everything from mattresses to milk!
We were taken to some great fishing spots.. which were all a very bumpy 4wd trek thru kms of salt, sand and dirt tracks. The spots were on isolated stunning beaches, cliffs and mangroves that only the locals can access..fish were guaranteed! First day, Steve and Mark's catch was queenfish, golden trevally and barracuda. Next day with neighbour Ricky.. whiting, bream and flathead and a shark that got away!
Went to their AFL game against Broome which was fun.. all the didgee ladies losing their shit screaming at their team "it's not a bloody boomerang ay". Our nights spent drinking n Barbieing in the backyard.
