Our lil camping spot
Back on track after a quick pit stop to home for 5 days! Nothing like home 🏡! Picked our van from storage and made our way to Burra .. an historic copper mining town a couple of hours north of Adelaide. We did the passport trail on our pushys. We got a key to access all the historic sites around town..gaol, miners dugouts, underground brewery and old mine sites. Freecamped behind Bon Accord Hotel. Not bad spot.. just had to buy dinner at the nice old pub..The owner got his money back tonight!! There is a bit of a mice plague in SA at moment.. thank god I haven't seen one yet!! Next day we checked out the old copper mine which was massive. This area has Cornish history so Steve luvd the Cornish pastie .. best he's had!
A free camp behind hotel . Just had to spend 20 bucks at pub which wasn't hard for us !!
Inside the gaol which also became home to the naughty girls (reformatory)
Hard to see but these were old miners dugouts where thousands used to live.. but like the flintstones!
We had a special key to open the different spots .. this gave us access to old stables and the lockup.
Holysnappinduckshit!!
Johnny Green was the mascot for the miners back in the day and has always overlooked the highest point of mine
Fun fact .. underground mine in the 1800's. The nobs and snobs both had a half share decided randomly. The nobs half had very little copper and the snobs found millions of $$... so snobs won over the nobs!! Was open cut mine in 1970's
