27th August
Arrived in Majorca, Spain about 7pm. Took a taxi to our Hostel Pinar for 20 Euros. We settled in then went for a walk. Our hotel meets all our needs - clean, air conditioning, ensuite bathroom, free wifi. Had paella dinner at El Puente with San Miguel beer and Sangria. Continued our walk to the city centre and on the old city wall. On our way back to our Hotel we had gelato. Arrived in our room just after midnight.
28th August
Conducted our own walking tour today. Started at the magnificent Santa Maria Cathedral of Palma. Entry 7 Euros each. It is a 1229 gothic cathedral with baroque gold altar pieces and additions by Gaudi. Continued onto the Palacio Episcopal gardens and Arabic Baths from the 10th century, this is all that remains from the Arab Medina. 2.50 Euro entry each. Next to the Temple built into the old wall and then a walk along Avenida de Gabriel Roca on the esplanade and on the beach. Ron had a swim in the Mediterranean. The water is very warm. Next to St Francis Cathedral and another walk on the old city wall and the San Agusti Church. Time for refreshments. We had gelato then San Miguel beer, Sangria and tapas at Michelangelo Trattoria.
