Plenty Highway

The skinniest road !
Left Alice today and headed for a place called Gemtrees.. couple hours north east. This area is famed for its garnet and zircon gemstones. It's a park in middle of nowhere .. we still had power and bore water which was good to wash all the dust off ! First thing we did was get fossicking for garnet. We bought a bucket of sand for $30. You first tip into a dry sieve and then swish it around in water.. hold it up to the sun and you can see all the red garnet glowing! We must have found 100 bits and also found 4 nice sized bits that can be shaped.. noice catch ! Next day we got up early to go in a tag 4WD zircon fossicking tour. Similar to garnet, shovel the dirt into a seive, shake it about and pick out the gems! Zircon was heaps harder to find but we found some good stuff to keep. In the arvy, I did a dot painting class with a local indigenous family showing me how to dot ! In the evening, the park put on a campfire roast cook up. Great having chat n bubbles n beers !
And then a road train zooms past
Beautiful bougenvilleas in middle of nowhere.. nice one Royskee
Did a fossick for garnet .. all the red is garnet gems
Scooping our bucket into the sieve
Getting our stash of garnet graded.. got a 5 mm 4 mm and two 3 mm.
Can anyone see a girl in this fire.. black pants and black crop top!!
Not many flies about today then !!
Our stash !!
Tadaaa
