( Overview
/ The World Trip (well a short one)
Sunday 16th. We had changed our ferry tickets so instead of leaving from the deep-water port on the other side of the island at 5pm we were leaving on a different ferry from Hvar town itself at 1pm.
Less time to waste in the day and cheaper. Great!!
In Split and unpacked by 3pm for a walk around the city - we are now realising that early check out means no messing around in the old city and early arrival means more time to get a feel for your new location.
We arrived in Split, went to our hotel (Hotel Vestibul Palace) only for them to give us a key, some directions and send us outside again. Somehow we were in the Villa Dobric Vestibul Palace Annex Hotel - a small apartment on Dobric.
But hey it was still cool and mixed into the old town so felt more like a resident than working in and out of a hotel lobby.
Split is majestic, yes only 2 to 3 days is required but the feel of the city and the history is what we wanted in Dubrovnik. The outside has the new shops the inside is more cosy and pleasant. What Diocletian's Palace must have been like in the past just boggles and amazes.
We hiked the old town well and truly, most impressed with the city and would have enjoyed a few days to relax and experience the cafes and culture.
Pizza in the room that night, then up for coffee on the shoreline the next morning before heading to the airport for our journey to Rome.
